We've done our math, and compared the lowest Canadian price to the lowest US price for all products in our database. We've discovered that camera gear in the US is 28% cheaper, on average. Here are some stats and some of the worst offenders from each manufacturer. All numbers accurate as of October 30th, 2007. The exchange rate used is 1 USD = 0.9635 CAD.
- Canon products are 26% cheaper in the States, on average.
- Nikon products are only 14% cheaper in the States, after recent Nikon Canada price drops.
- Tamron products are 30% cheaper in the States, on average.
- Digital Memory is 25% cheaper south of the border.
- SLR Flash accessories is the worst category with a 33% price difference.
